Lesson Breakdown


30 Minute Lesson Breakdown

•10 Min Technique:  Scales, Etudes, Warm-ups, etc.

•10 Min Sight-Reading and Sight Singing:  Theory included. 

•5 Min Literature:  Assigned music.  Prepared piece performed once and then worked on in lesson

•5 Min Closure:  Final Performance and Assignments


45 Minute Lesson Breakdown

•10 Min Technique: Scales, Etudes, Warm-ups, etc.

•10 Min Sight-Reading and Sight Singing: Theory included.

•20 Min Literature: Assigned music.  Prepared piece performed once and then worked on in lesson

•5 Min Closure:  Final Performance and Assignments


60 Minute Lesson Breakdown

•10 Min Technique: Scales, Etudes, Warm-ups, etc.

•10 Min Sight-Reading and Sight Singing: Theory included.

•35 Min Literature: Assigned music.  Prepared piece performed once and then worked on in lesson

•5 Min Closure:  Final Performance and Assignments



Literature Analysis

•Note accuracy, techniques, artistry

•Work’s title and its significance

•Pertinent information about the composer and composition style

•Historical period, dates, and related information

•Formal Structure: binary, ternary, rondo, through-composed, or other

•Harmonic treatment, basic tonality, or modality

•Melodic treatment: contours of the melodic line

•Movement or skips of pitch levels, melodic patterns, or use of notation

•Significant rhythmic treatments or figures

•Significant dynamic treatments

•Music Stand

•Adjustable Bench or Seat

•Metronome

•Chromatic Tuner

•Tuning Key (Comes with harp)

•Dust Cloth

•Polishing/Cleaning Cloth

•HARP Polish (Do not use furniture polish)
